Cookies & Local Settings

This page explains which cookies, local storage keys, or similar browser settings ChineseZodiac uses for theme, language, login state, and basic analytics.

Effective date: April 2, 2026

Why we use local browser settings

We use a small amount of cookie and local-storage based state to keep the site usable and consistent across visits.

These settings are intended to support function and usability, not cross-site advertising profiles.

What may be stored locally

  • Theme preference so the site remembers light, dark, or system mode
  • Language preference so locale selection is not lost between visits
  • Session cookies if you use optional account features
  • Minimal anonymous identifiers used for basic traffic analytics

What we do not use them for

  • We do not turn public zodiac lookups into advertising profiles.
  • We do not use cookies for cross-site ad retargeting.
  • We do not treat cookies as a substitute for information you intentionally submit through accounts, payments, or contact forms.

Feature-based browser state

Some optional features may involve cookies or local storage that are necessary to keep the session, login flow, or purchase flow working.

  • Sign-in state only when you use account features
  • Payment flow state only while you are completing a purchase
  • Analytics-related identifiers only for basic traffic measurement and product decisions

What still works without them

  • Most public zodiac content pages
  • Many year and element reading pages
  • Basic public zodiac and compatibility lookup flows

If you fully disable cookies or local storage, theme memory, locale memory, login persistence, and some convenience features may stop working properly.

How to manage them

  • You can clear cookies, local storage, and cache through your browser settings.
  • Private browsing modes can reduce persistent storage.
  • If you need clarification about a specific local setting, contact support@chinesezodiac.guide.
